2. General Information
****************************

AR Max Duo Code Manager is a freeware program destinated to all users of newest cheat hardware Action Replay Max Duo.
Action Replay Max Duo is the best cheat hardware that is currently produced.
Although it is much more expensive than its contender, the GameShark SP, it offers much more options of codes and is
the most used cheat device nowadays for the Nintendo handheld hacking, what makes very easy to find any codes you want for
the game you're playing, since all professional hackers use its codes as the standart one when hacking.
However, though it is the most powerful cheat device by now for GBA, it lacks of a good PC support, especially when it comes
to edititng its code lists, saved on the special .dsc file format. So as to, I decided to program AR Max Duo Code Manager
in order to help every user of this cheat device to edit his/her code lists and directly export it to the hardware.

AR Max Duo Code Manager deals with both .dsc file extensions, used by the software program that come with the device in
order to export the cheats you have on your PC directly to your device, saving you the time to enter them all manually. To make this,
and consequently to use XPort Code Manager, you will need:
1) Action Replay Max Duo.
2) An USB cable that comes with the product.
3) The product software, also included in the package (Nintendo DS - GBA Max Drive).
4) AR Max Duo Code Manager

Get all the stuff above and be set to edit your .dsc files freely!

I developed this program especially due to the lack of any other software that can give you free access to your code lists.
Even the official Nintendo DS - GBA Max Drive software included in the hardware package does not provide any feature like this.
Long code threads usually took ages to be done and most of us doesn't have, naturally, time and patience to keep in this situation.
Then I by myself took the initiative of decrypting the .dsc file procedure and afterwards compiling all the work in this program.
Well, here is the result! Have fun!

3. Installing AR Max Duo Code Manager

After you have downloaded the installer setup from the site, extract it from the zip file and double click it.
Follow carefully the steps of the wizard, until you complete the installation successfully.

4. Using the program
****************************

----------------------------
4.1 Basic features
----------------------------

The program is almost self-explanatory. You just need to use the commands given by the buttons at the left side of the it to
add, edit or remove the code entries you wish to export to a .dsc file.
Here is a quick overview of the buttons functions:

4.1.1 Add Game
This button adds a game to the main list.

When you hit Add Game button, a quick setup for putting in the game entry will be displayed.
On this new window, you have to select the game you're willing to add to the code list. To do that, just select the game you'd like
in the list box and then press OK button.
It is extremely important that you select the right game you're wishing to add your codes. If you do not do it, the codes won't
work when hooked up on the cheat device.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Game Code
If the game you'd like to add is not listed in the main box, you can still add it, by informing to the AR Max Duo Code Manager its name and game code.
The game code is a very special number each game has, like an identification number, constituted by four digits that is used
by AR Max Duo to link itself to your cartridge.
If you insert a wrong game code, it is almost assured that the codes won't have any effect when entered on the game. To prevent this,
double-check if the game you're entering is really the one you'd like.
Like we were saying, if your game is not in the list, you can still enter it, by informing its game code. As you probably don't
know the game code of your game, you can click on the Browse button, and search for one of the corresponding files:

1) The ROM of the game you're playing (extension .gba)
2) Another .dsc file of the game you're playing (extension .dsc)
3) A game save file from the old ARv3 and GSA (extensions .xps and .sps, correspondently)

These three file formats contain the game code of their correspondent game. By clicking on them with the Browse button,
AR Max Duo Code Manager will automatically extract from them the game code and put them on the text box.
It is also extremely important that you extract the game code from the correct game you're playing, because if not, that
would end up on a wrong (and consequently flawed) game code, which wouldn't work either.

After you've browsed for the game code of the game you're playing (and that is not listed on the main box), you can add this entry
to the main list by simply clicking on Insert button. That will prevent you to always browse for the same game code everytime
you'd like to enter that game you're playing.

Note that there are also some other buttons beside the main list. With them, you can edit your games list freely, incase
you wish to make any changes to the current game list. Here is a brief explanation of all of them:

1) Refresh: makes the program reads the game list again. That button is just ensure you that the modification you made were all
correctly done, although they always are (duh!).
2) Insert: insert the game name and its corresponding game code to the main list provided by AR Max Duo Code Manager.
3) Rename: rename the select game in the main list to the name you entered in the game name text box.
4) Change code: change the code of the select game entry in the main list to the one you entered in the game code text box.
5) Delete: deletes the select game entry of the game box, including its game code.

IMPORTANT NOTE 2: The Folder text box
Each game you enter to your list has a corresponding .dsc file. So, each .dsc file is capable of holding only ONE game entry. That means that
if you have 1000 game entries on AR Max Duo Code Manager, you have by consequence 1000 .dsc files stored on your computer.
So, everytime you add a new game entry to your code list, you're at the same time creating a .dsc file that is storing its codes.
The Folder text box, located below the game code text box, contains the folder where the .dsc file of that game entry you're trying to add will be saved.
It is pre-determinated that the folder will be same you last used to store or manage the last .dsc file.
Anyway, you can change it by clicking on the (...) button beside the Folder text box, and browsing a new spot to store it.
It is recommended that you reserve one separated folder to put all your modified .dsc files, just as a matter of organization. Either way,
it is up to you to decide how you manage better with your .dsc files. :)

After that, the game entry will be displayed like this:

GAME NAME
	(M)
	 00000000 00000000

It is disposed this way because every game entry must have a master code and one code in it. So, enter the real master codes of the game
and delete the 00000000 00000000 as it is there just to not leave the (m) entry empity.

Now you can edit the (m) codes and the other codes you wish to enter freely, with the help of the other buttons.
You can add almost an uncountable number of game entries to your code list.

4.1.2 Add Cheat/Add Code
This button adds a cheat inside a game entry you previously selected. Make sure you enter its name and codes. You can enter as many codes
per entry as you'd like.

4.1.3 Edit
Makes possible to the user to edit the selected code entry.

4.1.4 Remove
Deletes the selected entry, being it a game, a cheat or a code line.

IMPORTANT NOTE
You can't delete the master code of a game entry, neither modify its name. That's a security feature AR Max Duo Code Manager
has to prevent .dsc files curruption.

----------------------------
4.2 Special features
----------------------------

4.2.1 Create Back Up
Creates a back up (a copy) of the folder you set using the command Options>>Set PC folder (for more information about the Set PC folder
feature, read section 4.3.4).

4.2.2 Refresh
Reloads the folder set with the command Options>>Set PC folder.

----------------------------
4.3 Other features
----------------------------

4.3.1 Open
Makes the AR Max Duo Code Manager read the .dsc file you select and display the codes in the game list.

4.3.2 Save As
Allows you to save the game entry on the code list you're currently selecting in another .dsc file.

4.3.3 Exit
Stops running the program.

4.3.4 Set PC folder
Originately, the AR Max Duo software that comes within the product package, when installed, places on the same folder where the
main executable is located, a folder called 'PC'. That folder stores all the .dsc files the executable (called Nintendo DS -
GBA Max Drive) loads when run by the user. By clicking on Set PC folder, you can orientate the browser to that folder in order
to make AR Max Duo Code Manager load in once all the .dsc database the AR Max Duo software uses to link up to your GBA.
With that, you can load and modify your database in a few clicks!
However, like we said before, it is not so much recommended to do that. Instead, create another folder where you can store
the dsc files you'd like to modify, and set this folder with the Set PC folder command as the standart. This will be, in all case, your particular
database, where you can edit your code lists safely.
You could also do it directly to the PC folder, but it contains so many .dsc files, that sometimes it hinders editing and loading. It would be nice
if you delete some .dsc files on the PC folder that you don't use in order to set it with Set PC folder command.
After all, it is up to you to decide.

In the standart installation, the PC folder is located at the following place:
C:\Program Files\Datel\Nintendo DS - GBA Max Drive\PC

4.3.5 Auto Load PC folder
Automatically loads the folder set with the Set PC folder command just after loading the program.

4.3.6 Do not clear list before opening file
Check this option if you'd like to open multiple .dsc files in the same code list, by using the Open command.
NOTE: everytime that you use the Set PC folder command, the list will be deleted, no matter if this option is checked or
not.

4.3.6 Skip text in codes
If you insert a wrong code, or if you put codes with text in a code entry, enable this option to make the program skip
the lines that aren't codes.

4.3.7 About
Displays the About screen.

****************************
5. After editing the .dsc file
****************************

After you edited your .dsc files with the codes you'd like to restore to your GBA, you need to place this file at the PC folder,
located at the same folder where the Nintendo DS - GBA Max Drive is placed. By standart, this folder is:
C:\Program Files\Datel\Nintendo DS - GBA Max Drive\PC

If you don't place the .dsc file on this folder, Nintendo DS - GBA Max Drive won't be able to read it when loading.
After the software loaded your file, just hook it up to your GBA and transfer it.
Enjoy!
